Watermelon Eating Contest
2017 Walker Community Farmers Market Watermelon Eating Contest
Contest Rules: The object of the contest is to be the fastest person to eat a large wedge of watermelon down to the rind. Hands free eating is required! Contestants must place their hands behind their backs while eating the watermelon. All of the watermelon on a contestant’s plate must be consumed and not regurgitated or spit up (this will result in ejection from the contest) prior to the completion of the contest. Contestants must not eat any watermelon until the starting signal is given. Completion of the watermelon eating is to be decided by judges, not the contestant. Judges will be on hand to assure adherence to the contest rules. The winner will be the person who consumes the entire portion of watermelon in the shortest amount of time. In the event of a tie, the contestants will participate in a second round of eating. Contestants must be at least 10 years old and any contestant under the age of 18 must have parental permission/signature on the waver and a parent on-site for the contest.
Acknowledgement of Risks and Waiver of Liability: Contestant or contestant’s parent/guardian acknowledges that there are risks of personal injury and illness which may result from participating in the watermelon eating contest. Contestant and/or representatives as a condition of entry, agrees to indemnify and hold harmless the Walker Community Farmers Market, market sponsors, vendors or any others affiliated with the Walker Community Farmers Market from any and all responsibility or damages that may occur to participants as a result of participating in this contest.
If under the age of 18, a parental or guardian signature required.
The contest will begin at 11:30am in a designated area at the Walker Community Farmers Market.
Email your registration form to firstname.lastname@example.org or bring your application to the Green Scene Market. The contest is limited to 12 contestants. In the event that more than 12 people register to be in the contest, there will be a drawing at the market information booth at 11am to determine the contestants. Winner of the contest receives bragging rights and a large market goody basket!
